Dungeon Realm: Bevcourte

South East District

Population: Common: human. Uncommon: any.

Hands down, this is the busiest and most exotic of all Bevcourte Districts.  Here one can find the massive sprawling Crescent Sea Market, as well as the College of Magical Arts.  It’s easy to lose one’s self in the tangle of alleyways, and even easier to lose your coin.  Still, this is the place to be for all major news, as the District has strangers from all lands, with tales of the world beyond.  If it cannot be found anywhere else in the city, it can be found here.

Bevcourte College of Magical Arts: A consortium of Mages and Elementalists from throughout the realm here teach aspiring students in the Ars Magica.  Spells of all kinds can be purchased here, laboratories can be rented, and Magic Skills can be honed.  Although this is the largest gathering of casters in the realm, there are other places outside Bevcourte that deal in higher levels of the craft.  Although not technically of noble status, the Board of Elementalists has positions in King Jesse’s Court, and directly advise him and the royal family.  The current Headmaster is Magus Elmer Flood, a hydromancer.

Busey Estate: Seated at the hub of the kingdom’s most diverse point, the Busey family exerts a strong influence on international trade and diplomatic affairs.  Yet, they have for years been too preoccupied with boisterous and hedonistic displays of wealth and social standing to be taken too seriously in the seats of Bevcourte Castle proper.  Jake, the current heir, has been groomed by his father Gary to take the reigns of the family interest, but Gary himself has squandered so much money and done so much harm to foreign relations, that Jake has little hope of maintaining the family’s fortunes without outside help.  Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your perspective) the viziers of the Deuman family De La Peña have stepped in to tutor the young lad.

Crescent Sea Marketplace: The largest collection of merchants anywhere to be found in the Plateau.  All goods and foods, from common to rare, all sorts of exotic items, all sorts of entertainment, and even a fair amount of magical treasures can be haggled for and bought for the right coin.  There are vendors aplenty.  Milling amongst the crowds are the citizens of Bevcourte, as well as a large amount of tourists.  Within the market are tiny camps, microcosms of the other settlements throughout the Realm, who have come here to trade.  The Great Marketplace is a city unto itself.

Southeast Marina: This is a gate to the docks.  The ships outside this gate are a combination of merchant vessels, and those coming from both Deuman and beyond the Good Tunnel from the Cusp of Curious.  Thus, all manner of sailor or businessman can be found.  It is a wild lot.  Also, just outside city walls, along the docks, is Bevcourte’s Red-Light district, catering to the baser proclivities of all sea-dogs.

Sweetleaf Tavern: It’s difficult to describe this tavern as anything but wild.  At any given moment of the day, an influx of patrons from the market or the college can change the overall atmosphere.  Everyone usually keeps it cool, but with such an electrified atmosphere anything can change the tide.  There are back rooms available for smoking imported majakib from hookahs, or for getting out of the commotion in general.  Two things are always certain in the Sweetleaf Tavern: there’s never a dull moment, and the music always rocks.
