She's not a vampire, just an emo. A true story!

Apparently based on a true story, I picked this up at the video store with the idea of maybe finally seeing a new cool vampire flick….

Of course my hopes were soon dashed. This movie is interesting in its way. A bunch of goth kids who believe they are vampires drink each other’s blood and proceed to brutally kill the parents of one of their friends. They get caught after a short time on the run and spill their story to the cops. Apparently this all actually happened (or so the movie says, I haven’t cared to look into it). And if it did, by God, I hope they didn’t actually say that horrible, horrible dialogue.

It starts off nice, with a whole bit about finding some dead bodies and some goth kids getting arrested, and then they go ahead and tell their tale of woe and adventure to the police. The movie is both extremely hard to watch and easy to watch at the same time. Easy because it TRIES to be good, and has some interesting cinematography, but hard simply because of the poor dialogue and over the top acting displayed by the head of the “clan” (which is really more of a retarded highschool cult). I mean, seriously, this is the worst dialogue ever, and only one character ever really says it. Get rid of that guy and you’d have a half decent movie! The way it is now I have to say it’s only mindly entertaining (in an incredibly boring and “hey that’s an interesting shot” kind of way) and a chore to get through.

Don’t be fooled by the hot cover and the “true story” bullshit, it’s never that cool in the movie. I give it 1 star for effort.
